Lodestar Strategic Pvt Ltd (LSPL), the defence arm of BEKEM Infra Project Pvt Ltd, accomplished the seemingly difficult — completing a long-overdue retractable roof project at the Air Force Academy (AFA) within just 60 days. With an original lead time of 12 months, LSPL’s relentless approach turned a long-lingering concept into reality in record time.
The task? To design, engineer, and install a retractable roof over the spectator gallery for the parade ground. A project lingering for years was finally brought to life by LSPL, and it was completed in record time, despite significant challenges and a shoestring budget.
60 Days, No Excuses: Triumph Over Heatwaves and Downpours Against all odds, LSPL’s team worked day and night through extreme heat and heavy rains. The team faced harsh conditions—extreme heatwaves at the start and relentless heavy rains at the end. Their "lead-from-the-front" approach, coupled with a small but dedicated crew, ensured that the project was completed on time for the Academy’s prestigious passing-out parade. Yet, the spectator gallery had long been exposed to the elements, making it uncomfortable for viewers during the grand events. The challenge was to create a structure that would protect spectators from harsh weather conditions without obstructing the view of the fly-pasts.
LSPL’s retractable roof solution, tailored to the exact dimensions of the seating area, provides the perfect balance between shelter and open visibility. Each roof spans 7.5 meters in width and 12 meters in length. Each roof section can be independently operated. A motorized system ensures smooth operation, while high-strength tensile fabric offers protection from the sun and rain.
